Employee volunteering builds bridges between the employer and the local community.
The community benefits from getting willing volunteers to help by means of individual opportunities or team challenges. Community organisations are amazed at what the volunteers are happy to do in a day’s hard work.
The employees benefit from the satisfaction of having helped in solving a community problem. Other benefits include publicity for both the employer and the community organisation, increased managerial experience for the challenge team leader, and an opportunity for individuals and teams to make a difference by doing something different.
Cares has been in the UK since 1998; there are 28 Cares Partnerships centred on major cities.
Cares is the main employee volunteering programme in the UK - a Business in the Community initiative. Employees give their time and skills to the communities in which they live and work.

Companies support local Cares partnerships and, in many cases, provide time for employees to volunteer during the working day.
Volunteering opportunities are made available to staff by a mixture of brochures, notice boards, and an on-line extranet system.
