On the 1st September 2011 Agrimarc and Fenmarc Produce sponsored the East of England Potato Day which was held at Frederick Hiam in Tuddenham, Suffolk.
The East of England Potato Day is one of the key events held by The Potato Council in which seed producers, growers, packers and Potato Council get together to promote new varieties, new machinery, best practise, and share latest research.
The day was well attended by growers from across the region who also had the chance to see some potato trials. Agrimarc and Fenmarc showcased a selection of their new exclusive varieties including Rudolph and Belana. There were also some seed treatment, bio-fumigant and defoliation trials on the site.
The day also provided an excellent opportunity to show their Trials potato planter (pictured above) which was designed by Bob Sykes, and is run by Agrimarc.
This potato planter is one of a kind. It has been used this year to conduct various trials, for Agrimarc growers and customers including; Omex, Biotechnica, Soil Solutions and Masstock. Trials have been completed mainly in the East of the country, but some have also been conducted in Scotland.
"We can offer a complete potato trialing system based on a 'target set' concept which looks at seed size, plant tuber numbers and fertilizer treatments to determine the effects on marketable yield. We are happy to speak to anyone interested in technical trials as well as spacing and variety planting trials." Nigel Allam, General Manager at Agrimarc.
The planter is equipped with in-furrow fertilizer application, fed from 4 front mounted tanks which are operated by the driver. The machine is also fitted with an Amistar Dosaflow system.
